About QWERTx

01 / Our story

Great research shouldn’t need a full-time job

The world’s best investors publish what they own every quarter, but the raw filings are dense tables built for regulators, not people.

QWERTx was started by a working professional who wanted a faster way to learn from the best. We turn SEC filings into clear visuals, add the market context that matters and explain it all in plain English, so you can make better decisions in the time you actually have.

02 / What we stand for

Futuristic tools, old-fashioned honesty

Every number sourced

Each holding links back to the original SEC filing, so you never have to take our word for it.

No paid picks

No sponsored rankings and no stock promotions. Ever.

Plain English

Every chart comes with a short “what this means” so it’s useful at a glance.

Respect your time

30-second summaries first, deep dives one click away.

03 / Methodology

How we calculate everything

Transparent rules you can check yourself.

Holdings data
We read each manager’s Form 13F-HR information table directly from SEC EDGAR, combine duplicate lines for the same security and compare share counts with the previous quarter to label positions New, Added, Trimmed, Held or Sold out. CUSIP identifiers are mapped to tickers with OpenFIGI. Where a filer reports values in thousands, we convert to dollars.
Conviction and “behaves like N bets”
Conviction is the weight of the top 10 positions. The effective number of positions is 1 divided by the Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (the sum of squared weights): a portfolio with four equal positions scores 4.
Turnover and buys/sells
Buys and sells are estimated as the change in shares times the quarter-end price. Turnover is the smaller of total buys or sells divided by the average portfolio value, a standard approach for funds.
Similarity score
We treat each portfolio as a vector of position weights (share classes combined) and calculate the cosine similarity between investors. 100 means identical portfolios; 0 means no overlap.
Market mood
The latest VIX close from FRED is mapped onto five zones: below 12, 12–15, 15–20, 20–30 and above 30. Live widgets come from TradingView.
Limitations
13F filings arrive up to 45 days after quarter end and only cover US-listed long positions, so they leave out shorts, cash, most bonds and many foreign holdings. Prices in filings are quarter-end prices. Nothing here is investment advice.
